Chessington CC: 172/8 Off 45 Overs

Hampton Hill CC Win by 7 wickets

James Robottom and James Boulton got the Hill off to a good start with some tight bowling to leave Chessington 30/0 off ten overs.

Robbie Coates was fingertips away from a spectacular catch as the Hill continued the search for the early breakthrough.

Adam Mackinney then picked up the much-needed breakthrough with James Woolman snicking off and requiring a fine catch from wicket keeper Jack Baverstock.

Kashif Sheikh picked up a wicket within his first over perhaps fortuitously when his short pitched delivery was pulled straight into the safe hands of Jamie Sones.

Chessington had now set the platform for a good finish with wickets in hand for the Division two side.

Tom Daniel got to his half century for Chessington with a fine drive past the bowler, but it was 50 and out for the opener as a comical run out left both batsmen at the same end once again Sones being in the thick of the action.

The wheels slowly began to fall off for the away side including a fine catch from Sones off the bowling of Kash juggling the ball before gaining control.

A fine display of death bowling from the Hill limited Chessington to 172 off their 45 overs in an innings that never really got going including two wickets for opening bowler James Boulton on his home debut for the club.

The opening pair of Sam and Jamie got the Hill off to a good start getting to 36 without loss before the wicket fell of Jamie.

Before a 54-run stand between Sam and fellow home debutant Rich Bennett put Hampton Hill in the driving seat including a fine knock of 41 off 57 by Sam.

A couple quick wickets of Sam and Rich caused the Hill to stutter very slightly to 93-3 from 90-1.

However, any doubt was soon put to bed when skipper JNS and Robbie Coates got 34 and 27 respectively to get the Hill over the line with just under ten overs to spare.

With the 1st XI next week travelling to Staines and Laleham to continue to prepare for the upcoming league campaign in a promotion pushing year for the team.
